STAR BASTION is a free single-player 3D space shooter and turret defense game. Man a carrier’s turret, track enemy fighters, and hold off capital ships. Play in your browser without installing a game or creating an account.

In 2187, the alien Xenarch emerge from a rift beyond Neptune. You are Guardian 1, a turret gunner aboard the UEDF carrier Bastion. Defend the fleet and Earth in Part 1, then take the counterattack through the rift in Part 2.

## Missions and progression
- 20 story missions across two chapters: defense, recon, escort, rescue, supply raids, and boss battles.
- Six weapons, starting with the mass driver, plus EMP Nova to counter nearby enemies and torpedoes.
- Earn credits from mission scores to unlock weapons and upgrade hull, shields, targeting, and other ship systems in the hangar.
- Endless Defense challenges your survival time and score against enemy waves. Unlock it as you progress through the campaign.
- English, Korean, and Japanese menus, tutorials, mission dialogue, and objectives.
- Mouse and keyboard on PC, with on-screen touch controls for phones and tablets.

## How to play
- Mouse / WASD / Arrow keys: Aim the turret. Hold Shift for slower, precise keyboard aiming.
- Left click / Space / J: Fire. Hold to charge the railgun or siege cannon, then release to shoot.
- Hold right click / Hold Z: Optical zoom. Change magnification with the wheel while zoomed, or with C.
- 1–6 / Q, E / Wheel: Select or cycle weapons. The wheel adjusts magnification while zoomed.
- T / R: Select a target near the crosshair / next target. T prioritizes incoming torpedoes.
- F / EMP button: Use EMP Nova once unlocked to counter nearby enemies and torpedoes.
- Esc / P: Pause. Settings and control instructions are available from the pause menu.
- Touch screen: Drag on the left to aim. Use the right-side Fire, Zoom, Weapon, Target, EMP, and Pause buttons.

The yellow diamond (◇) is the lead marker, accounting for projectile travel time. Aim ahead of a moving enemy at that marker. Pink ◆ markers are plasma torpedoes; intercept them before they reach a ship.

## Frequently asked questions
### Is it free? Do I need to install anything or register?
The game is free and requires no installation or account. You need a browser that supports JavaScript and WebGL2.

### Which devices can I play on?
PC mouse and keyboard and phone or tablet touch controls are supported. Landscape is recommended for phone combat; tablets can use either orientation. Adjust graphics quality in Settings to suit your device.

### Where is progress saved?
Mission records, credits, unlocks, upgrades, and settings are stored in the current browser’s localStorage. Clearing browser data or switching browsers or devices does not automatically carry that progress over.

### How many weapons are there?
There are six: mass driver, flak cannon, homing missiles, beam laser, railgun, and siege cannon. EMP Nova is a separate special weapon. Credits and campaign progress unlock and improve your equipment.

### How do Campaign and Endless Defense differ?
Campaign tells a story through 20 missions in two chapters. Endless Defense tests survival time and score against enemy waves, and unlocks as you progress through the campaign.

### Will changing language erase my progress?
No. All three languages share the same game save on this site. Choose a language on the start screen or main menu; the choice is remembered. The selector is hidden during an active mission.
